2018 Keynote Presenter: Corey Medina, Native American blues artist
Born and raised on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, New Mexico, Corey Medina grew up embracing the music that taught him so much - the blues. His roots carried with him when he moved to Bemidji, Minnesota in 2012 and has molded himself around the music scene ever since.
His early musical influences came out of what his mom and uncles listened to: blues, classic country, soul, classic rock and metal. Corey adopts all of these in his music with his band "Corey Medina & Brothers". His band sets out to shine light in dark places by using their music and story to inspire others. Raw soul and rock stem from their bluesy sound from hard hitting break downs to growling blues screams. His music, he says, aims at spreading a message of hope and encouragement to every tribe and tongue that has felt hopeless and held back in life by fear, shame and hurt.
