MN Homeless Volunteer:
Every three years, Wilder Research conducts a one-night statewide survey of homeless people in Minnesota to better understand the prevalence, causes, circumstances, and effects of homelessness. In partnership with local homeless prevention programs, United Way is seeking volunteers to conduct face-to-face interviews with people experiencing homelessness on Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26. Information gathered helps shape federal, state and local efforts to end homelessness.
Volunteers must be age 21 or older and bring openness and flexibility to the volunteer experience. We also ask that you commit to completing the training with the materials sent to you prior to your volunteer shift.
Interviews will be conducted in the shelter and non-shelter locations throughout Itasca County including emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, and domestic violence shelters.
Time Commitment: Most interview assignments involve a 4-hour time commitment, and may begin in the afternoon or evening. Assignments earlier in the day are also available.
Following your registration, we will send you additional information about time and schedule availability. For additional information or questions about volunteering, contact Kimberly Brink Smith, United Way Executive Director at 218-999-7570 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Projects can be anything from sorting clothing donations, writing kindness cards, assembling care packages, or creating literacy kits. The opportunities are endless. Pop-Up Volunteering is a high-impact, lower-commitment opportunity to get involved in local charities and make a difference in our community. We know that your time is limited. We want to make sure you can connect with causes that matter to you and learn more about our community, even on a time-crunched schedule. Each pop-up volunteer project is designed to help you understand the impact of the work that you’re doing and get to know the cause you’re supporting all while working with co-workers, family, friends, teams, and classmates.
Time Commitment: 10+ minutes
If you are interested in hosting a pop-up volunteer activity, please contact United Way at 218-999-7570 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
