    You are here:  OUR WORK

Our Work
United Way makes our area a better place to live. We invest in quality agencies, programs and services that make our community stronger and healthier. Our focus is in Education, Health and Income — the building blocks for a good quality of life.

Education

Nurturing Children and Youth
We’re working at critical points along the school spectrum to help children achieve their potential.

Together we:
help parents learn developmentally appropriate activities to help their children enter kindergarten ready to learn.
help children be ready to move to the next grade.
help promote positive youth development through quality and safe out-of-school time programs that provide academic support, technology and leadership building opportunities.
help programs that provide mediation and conflict resolution training, and connect youth to peer and adult mentors.
help ensure our youth graduate from high school and are prepared for college or a vocation.

Income & Basic Needs

Supporting Financial Stability and Independence
We’re helping individuals and families become stable and financially independent.

Together we:
help hard working families access high quality childcare through financial aid scholarships.
help children and families with temporary emergency housing and childcare.
help reduce barriers to employment.
help teach individuals and families about budgeting and financial management skills.
help to stabilize people in crisis with emergency food, safe shelter, housing services and other basic needs.

Health
Building Healthy Communities

We’re helping people in our community improve their health and independence.

Together we:
help seniors and individuals with disabilities live independently and remain active in the community.
help youth and adults access the tools they need to be healthy and physically fit.
help people receive domestic violence, crime victim, child abuse prevention, and intervention services.
help expand primary care to underserved and vulnerable adults and children.
