On June 21, thousands of people in more than 300 communities, including Itasca County, will be volunteering during the United Way’s Day of Action.
United Way of 1000 Lakes has developed a partnership with the Grand Rapids Farmers’ Market and Klockow Brewing Company to connect volunteers and projects for the day.
Volunteer opportunities range from painting and landscaping to creating public art to assembling care packs, and from collecting hygiene items for children and adults to a community plant sale to grow the market’s food assistance program for low-come families.
Project start at the Grand Rapids Farmers’ Market (11 Golf Course Road, Grand Rapids) from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and concludes with family-friendly micro-volunteering opportunities, live music performances by Michaela Smith and Kim Naglar, and food trucks at Klockow Brewing Company (36 SE 10th Street, Grand Rapids) from 3 to 7 p.m.
Day of Action is possible through support by Arrow Embroidery, Grand Rapids State Bank, Ground Round, Paul Bunyan Communications, and State Farm Insurance – Kyle Casey.
