Who will win this year’s cook-off?
Who makes the best pancake? On Saturday, Sept. 12th, it’s up to attendees of United Way’s annual Pancake Cook-off to decide. Join the chefs cooking and flipping hundreds of creative pancakes to a crowd of hungry folks between 9 and 11 a.m. at the Central School Grounds in Grand Rapids. After tasting the custom creations, our judges will vote for their favorite and the winning team will have ultimate pancake bragging rights.

As delicious as this is going to be, it’s also for a good cause as donations to the United Way’s Community Impact Fund are encouraged in exchange for getting a taste of the chefs’ creations.

So, think you have the winning recipe?

Personal Care Drive Success
In June, United Way of 1000 Lakes held a Personal Care Drive to collect essential toiletries and other small items to help disconnected youth, victims of violence, seniors and the homeless meet their basic needs, including hygiene items.

The drive is held annually in conjunction with United Way’s Day of Action -- a day-long event where people throughout the area complete dozens of community service projects and activities at various locations. Projects were designed to match a wide variety of skill levels and interests. Tasks ranged from landscaping and outdoor beautification projects to interior painting and general clean-up. Read more.

Volunteer as an individual. Organize a collection drive. You’ll instantly see the impact you’re making.
