Day of Action: June 21st

Day of Action is a massive annual volunteer initiative that takes place worldwide on June 21st to improve lives and conditions in our communities. Last year, a collective 582 hours of service were garnered in the Itasca Area alone during the day equating to more than $14,000 in contributions. More than a hundred volunteers of all ages participated in various hands-on projects including prepping community garden space, packing bulk food, and installing a cement pad for a new accessible swing. Learn more



Lumberjack Mile/5K Fun Run: Sept. 8th

Grab your favorite flannel shirt, strap on those suspenders and join United Way of 1000 Lakes for a family friendly Mile and 5K fun run. Entry fee includes an awesome, soft, collectible t-shirt, bib, and great post-race lumberjack activities. Health and Hygiene Drive

United Way of 1000 Lakes is holding its annual Personal Care Drive to collect essential toiletries and other small items to help disconnected youth, victims of violence, seniors and the homeless meet their basic needs, including hygiene items.The drive is held annually in conjunction with United Way’s Day of Action on June 21, a massive annual volunteer initiative that takes place worldwide to improve lives and conditions in our communities. Board Spotlight: Alie McInerney

Alie has called the Itasca-area home to her family for more than 100 years. With deep roots and a tremendous love for the place she calls home, she always knew she would make it back.  After moving away for school and a short stint in Duluth, she had the opportunity to move back five years ago to work at the Blandin Foundation.
